MINUTES
UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
June 16, 2003

Mayor Margo G. Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. In attendance were Councilmembers Whaland Clark, Mabel Mumford-Pautz and Harrison J. Bristoll, Jr., Medford Capel, Utilities Manager, W. S. Ingersoll, Town Manager, Jennifer Stead, Stenographer, and guests.

Mayor Bailey asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the previous meeting of May 19, 2003. Mr. Bristoll moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as submitted, was seconded by Mrs. Mumford-Pautz and carried unanimously.

Mayor Bailey announced that the Utilities Commission had cash on hand and in banks of $494,152.15.

Mr. Capel stated that there was a sanitary sewer overflow on Radcliffe Drive because there was only one pump operating at the time. He thought there was a leak in the pond by LaMotte. He said when the sewer was installed at LaMotte there was an agreement that the Town would run a pipe under the railroad track to alleviate the problem from occurring. He stated it was time to install the piping.

The Council agreed that Mr. Capel should research preliminary information on the piping costs.

Mr. Capel stated that at the lagoon there was a blower they had to repair and another that was sent away for repair. There was a pump at Radcliffe Station that had to have new bearings and propellers.

Mr. Capel stated that there was a problem with the circuit breaker on two pumps on Kent Street. He said they had to install a larger circuit breaker.

Mr. Capel stated that the Corrosion Control was scheduled to begin work on the standpipe by the end of the week.

Mr. Capel stated that he traveled to Maine to a map company and purchased GIS equipment for $500.00 that would allow him to locate the water and sewer lines within 10’ so they could be mapped out.

There being no further business, Mr. Clark made a motion to pay the bills. Mr. Bristoll seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

Mr. Clark moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:43 p.m., was seconded by Mrs. Mumford-Pautz and carried unanimously.
