MINUTES
UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
September 15, 2003


Mayor Margo G. Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Councilmembers Whaland Clark, Mabel Mumford-Pautz, Harrison C. Bristoll, Jr. and James R. Johnson, Medford Capel, Utilities Manager, Jennifer Stead, Stenographer, and guests.

Mayor Bailey asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the previous meeting of August 18, 2003. Mr. Bristoll moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as submitted, was seconded by Mrs. Mumford-Pautz and carried unanimously.

Mayor Bailey announced that the Utilities Commission had cash on hand and in banks of $477,833.03.

Mr. Capel stated that in the event the hurricane moved through the area there was a generator that would provide a continuous water supply.

Mr. Capel stated that the standpipe work was completed on the interior of the tank, but the tank was not full because the exterior still had to be painted.

Mr. Capel stated that the Town was preparing for the hurricane by way of filling the diesel and propane tanks for the generators. He said he did not anticipate any problems from the storm.

There being no further business, Mr. Bristoll made a motion to pay the bills. Mr. Clark seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

Mr. Clark moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:33 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Bristoll and carried unanimously.
