MINUTES
UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
August 16, 2004
Mayor Margo G. Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council Members Mabel Mumford-Pautz, W. Whaland Clark, James R. Johnson and Harrison C. Bristoll, Jr., W.S. Ingersoll, Town Manager, Joan Merryman, Stenographer, and guests.
Mayor Bailey asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the Mayor and Council meeting of July 19, 2004. Mr. Bristoll moved to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Mr. Clark and carried unanimously.
Mayor Bailey stated that cash on hand and in banks was $570,344.21.
Mr. Sipes stated that the roof replacement at the water plant was almost finished. The chimney had to be removed and replaced. The existing filters also needed repair.
Mr. Sipes stated that a water leak was reported by Play it Again Sam. The cause was a broken meter, which was repaired.
Mr. Sipes stated that turtles were getting stuck in the pipes at the lagoon. A piece of plastic with holes was installed to keep the turtles out.
Mr. Sipes stated that annual tours were given to Washington College and the middle school children at the lagoon.
Mr. Sipes stated that road patching was due to begin next week, weather depending.
Mr. Sipes stated that the extensions at Talbot Boulevard were complete.
Mr. Sipes stated that the rerouting of the water main at Heron Point had been Bac T tested and was bacteria free.
There being no further business, Mr. Clark made a motion to pay bills, was seconded by Mr. Bristoll and carried unanimously.
Mr. Bristoll moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:32 p.m. was seconded by Mr. Clark and carried unanimously.
