MINUTES
UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
October 18, 2004
Mayor Margo G. Bailey called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. In attendance were Council Members Mabel Mumford-Pautz, W. Whaland Clark, James R. Johnson and Harrison C. Bristoll, J r., W.S. Ingersoll, Town Manager, Jennifer Stead, Stenographer, and guests.
Mayor Bailey asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the Mayor and Council meeting of September 20, 2004. Mr. Bristoll moved to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Mr. Clark and carried unanimously.
Mayor Bailey stated that cash on hand and in banks was $532,253.28.
Mr. Sipes stated that the pumps at Radcliffe lift station were pulled in order to work on the shafts. The work was completed and all pumps were back in operation.
Mr. Sipes stated that street patching was completed.
Mr. Sipes stated that an 8” cracked water line was repaired on Rt. 291.
Mr. Sipes stated that the junk steel was hauled to Bennett & Cohey’s and the funds from the steel were added to the budget.
Mr. Sipes stated that the shed bays now had concrete floors and Bearing Construction was getting ready to begin hauling in dirt. He said that the silt fence was in place for construction.
Mayor Bailey stated that she was in receipt of a letter from Mary Ann Taylor requesting permission to hook-up to the system along Morgnec Road. Mr. Ingersoll replied to Ms. Taylor that the water line ran along Morgnec Road and since the residence was in existence when the line was established, she was entitled to out-of-town service at the out -of-town rate and hook-up fee of $4,000.00, plus installation to the line. Mrs. Mumford-Pautz moved to approve permission for the hook-up to Town water, was seconded by Mr. Clark and carried unanimously. The Council asked Mr. Ingersoll to guide Ms. Taylor to the right agencies for financial help.
There being no further business, Mr. Clark made a motion to pay bills, was seconded by Mr. Bristoll and carried unanimously.
Mr. Bristoll moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:17 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Clark and carried unanimously.
